Buyer
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
Position Summary:
The Buyer coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for the organization.
General Responsibilities:
Consult with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
Review and revise bill of materials as they are released for purchase
Accurate entry, proofing, maintenance, and submission of purchase orders
Process returns and request credits after appropriate investigation
Work out remedies for defective or unacceptable goods
Collaborate with department managers, engineers and operations staff on material needs
Generate daily, weekly and monthly reports, providing summaries to management
Work with Expeditor to ensure on time delivery of products
Provide back-up to the receptionist and front office
Requirements:
Related Associates degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years experience in a purchasing department for a manufacturing company
Ability to think critically and implement effective solutions
Excellent verbal, written and listening skills
Detail-oriented and accurate with strong organization skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Ability to interact professionally and ethically with all levels of the organization
