Custodian

Reports to: Facilities Engineer

Position Summary:

Keep buildings in a clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

General Responsibilities:

  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.

  • Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.

  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.

  • Gather and empty trash.

  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms

  • Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.

  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, or chairs to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings.

  • Special projects as assigned


Physical Abilities:

  • Stand and walk for minimum of 8 hours a day

  • Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 10 – 15 lbs continuously

  • Ability to keep up with the physical demands to sweep and mop all floors

Requirements:

  • Ability to prioritize cleaning checklist

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Conduct self in a professional manner in front of customers and fellow employees.

  • Knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools and equipment used to clean a public facility.

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules/regulations
