Inverted Power and Free Liquid Spray Casket Line

Indianapolis, IN

This was a unique job as it was built for painting caskets. There was a casket delivered to TTX for review, and employees also visited the funeral homes in town. The job had a floor conveyor for cleanliness as well as robots for painting. The casket paint finishing system included painting a production capacity of 97,200 caskets per year at a rate of 18 caskets per hour.

This system was an inverted power and free conveyor which transported the caskets and lids on a paint fixture through the various paint finishing process steps. Those steps included nine colors and one clear paint. It started as a two booth system for painting a base color and clear coat, then changed to a four booth system that could do a base coat, brush finish, pin stripe and clear coat.
